The Shedd Presents: Oregon Festival of American Music

Director Chuck Redd and guest directors Shirley Andress, Lynnea Barry, Siri Vik, Vanessa Greenway and Will & Peter Anderson continue their year-long celebration of the dynamic and vibrant relationship between the Classic Songbook and jazz as popular and jazz musicians alike have taken up, interpreted, and reinterpreted existing compositions from both traditions and contribute new ones. Notable composers and performers they’ll be looking at include Jerome Kern, Harry Warren, Jimmy Van Heusen, Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Anita O’Day, Peggy Lee, June Christy, Frank Sinatra, Coleman Hawkins, Ella Fitzgerald, and more). At the Oregon Festival of American Music, enjoy 9 historic popular music & jazz concerts, the summer jazz party, 2 community sing-alongs, 8 films & 9 talks, plus 2 Road Scholar programs.
