Covered Bridges, Modern Murals and Classic Wine in Cottage Grove Oregon

By Stephen Hoshaw

The Willamette Valley offers exceptional wines that can be paired with unique cultural experiences and stunning landscapes. Cottage Grove in the South Willamette Valley is a fine example of the spirit and charm of the area.

Spend the day in Cottage Grove on a walking, cycling or driving tour of the 6 historic covered bridges and 20 outdoor murals. The murals in Cottage Grove paint a story of the history of the town and its people. The town lies near the confluence of the Row and Willamette rivers and is green and lush.

After a walking tour of the murals, head for Saginaw Vineyard  to quench your thirst. Saginaw is open year-round and offers live music and other special events in the summer. Since the tasting room is an old converted barn, the historic feel continues.

Most of the covered bridges can be crossed on foot but only one is still open to traffic. Each one crosses a scenic section of a wild river. Check these romantic and nostalgic places off your list before heading for more wine options west of Cottage Grove along the Territorial Wine Trail. Pick up a Pinot Bingo wine exploration game card at one of the wineries and start exploring to win prizes!
