Truffle Events in the Willamette Valley

By Matt Wastradowski

When the holiday season ends in the Willamette Valley, truffle season begins. This is a magical time of year when foragers begin digging up truffles that end up on dinner plates and at the heart of several events over the coming months.

Our truffles are so beloved and sought-after, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek declared in 2024 that February is Oregon Truffle Month—recognizing Oregon as one of the world's top truffle-growing regions and emphasizing the importance of truffles to local economies and ecosystems.

Experience this regional delicacy yourself, with truffle-related dinners, wine pairings, and other fun events in early 2026.

Oregon Truffle Festival | Truffle Dog Championship | Valentine's Day Dinner Party | Gala Truffle Dinner | Truffle Trail in Newberg

The Willamette Valley’s biggest event each winter is the Oregon Truffle Festival—taking place in February and March at venues across the region.

Browse the full Oregon Truffle Festival events calendar to see what's happening this year—including gala dinners at local wineries, educational experiences, marketplaces with truffle-infused items, and the popular Joriad North American Truffle Dog Competition.

Every year, one of the most popular Oregon Truffle Festival events is the Joriad™ North American Truffle Dog Championship.

Taking place on February 6, 2026, at the Lane Events Center in Eugene, the competition—the only such event in North America—brings together dogs of all sizes to see which can find truffle-scented targets around the arena. Spectators are welcome to view the morning's preliminary round; the final round, held later that afternoon, is not open to the public.

Spend your Valentine's Day indulging in the magic of Oregon truffles.

The Valentine's Day Truffle Dinner Party, which takes place at Zest Kitchen & Bar in downtown Eugene, begins with a sparkling wine reception and truffled hors d’oeuvres. From there, you'll enjoy a four-course, truffle-inspired dinner alongside curated wine pairings.

Truffles and wine go together like peanut butter and jelly—so try this iconic pairing with a Gala truffle dinner on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22, 2026, at Willamette Valley Vineyards near Salem. The meal is helmed by Willamette Valley Vineyards Executive Chef DJ McIntyre and Oregon Truffle Festival Culinary Director Charles Ruff. It includes a multi-course menu that showcases the flavors of the truffle—along with wines from Willamette Valley Vineyards.

Extend your visit with a stay at The Grand Hotel in Salem (a stately lodging in the heart of downtown) or the brand-new Holman Hotel.

Between January and March, Taste Newberg's Truffle Trail brings together truffle hunts, dinners crafted with (and inspired by) truffles, wine pairings, and other fun events that celebrate truffles around Newberg and Dundee in the heart of Oregon Wine Country. Stay tuned for events coming in 2026!

If you’d like to really dive into the Willamette Valley's truffle offerings, consider a stay at The Dundee Hotel or Inn the Ground—an airy, luxurious bed-and-breakfast outside Carlton that sits on a hillside atop a working farm. Both are popular luxurious overnight stays in Oregon Wine Country.
