Family-friendly routes on the Covered Bridges Scenic Bikeway

By Stacey Gregory

Let curiosity be your guide on a family-friendly bike trip along the Covered Bridges Scenic Bikeway.

The Willamette Valley is home to some of the best family activities in the state. Make memories with your loved ones when you hop on a bike and explore winding roads and country trails on the Covered Bridges Scenic Bikeway. The Row River Trail portion of the bikeway starts in the charming small town of Cottage Grove, then takes you through three historic covered bridges. This section of the bikeway is paved and not shared with cars, making it a safe and enjoyable experience for cyclists of all ages and ability levels.

Along the way families can discover Cottage Grove's rich gold mining history at the Bohemia Gold Mining Museum, which is at the start of the Scenic Bikeway. Run by modern day miners, the museum features artifacts, photographs and old mining equipment. Or catch a play at the Cottage Theatre, a community theatre that producers a year-round season of plays and musicals.
